Note: swimming and wading are not permitted since Dixon Lake is a drinking water reservoir. You can go there any time between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. during most of the year for a self-guided tour. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Guided tours run on Saturdays and Sundays from April through November ($5 adults, $3 kids\/seniors). Tours are first-come, first-served \u2014 grab tickets at the Gift Shop when it opens at 9:15am. We recommend the guided tours. It\u2019s a total of just about 6 1\/2 miles out and back, and it winds through some really gorgeous countryside. It\u2019s a pretty easy hike, without a lot of changes in elevation. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">It also has one of the longest stressed ribbon pedestrian bridges in the entire world, running nearly 1,000 feet in length. From the bridge, you can see a great variety of wildflowers, turtles, fish, ducks, and other water birds.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Go_on_a_Safari\"><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Go_on_a_Safari\"><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Go on a Safari<\/span><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">You don\u2019t have to get on a plane to go on safari because Escondido has the <a href=\"https:\/\/sdzsafaripark.org\/tickets\">San Diego Zoo Safari Park<\/a>. This zoo is made of large enclosures that imitate the natural habitats of the zoo\u2019s inhabitants, allowing the animals to roam around freely, like they would in the wild. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">There are more than 3,000 different animals from more than 300 different species, including giraffes, rhinos, gorillas, cheetahs, lions, tigers, and zebras. And the ways of getting around the park are almost as interesting as the animals themselves. You can get around to see the animals by golf cart, truck, zip line, and even by balloon.
