Classic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday, March 27 (6:40 PM) \u2014 Party in the Park:<\/strong> Presented by Southwest Airlines. $5 drink specials, live entertainment, and the energy of a Friday night crowd that&#8217;s been waiting since October to scream at umpires again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Saturday, March 28 (5:40 PM) \u2014 Fireworks Night:<\/strong> Postgame fireworks spectacular presented by SeatGeek. Plus pre-game live entertainment and drink specials in Gallagher Square. This is the one to bring a date to \u2014 or just yourself, a tri-tip nacho, and a cold beer. Both are valid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_2026_Roster\"><\/span>The 2026 Roster<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The core is still here and still dangerous. Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. anchor the lineup, with Tatis moving to the cleanup spot this year. Xander Bogaerts is projected to lead off, Jackson Merrill holds down center field, and Jake Cronenworth does Jake Cronenworth things at second base. New addition Nick Castellanos slots in at DH, giving the lineup some serious depth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the mound, Nick Pivetta gets the Opening Day start, backed by a rotation that includes Michael King, Joe Musgrove, and Randy V\u00e1squez. The bullpen got a major upgrade with closer Mason Miller, who throws 100 mph the way most people throw 85. You&#8217;ll skip the <a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegohumor.com\/top-things-to-do-in-downtown-san-diego\/\">downtown<\/a> traffic, avoid the $30+ parking lots, and get to tell everyone how smart you are for the rest of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re driving, prepay your parking through SpotHero or the Padres site. The Lexus Premier Lot, Tailgate Park, and Padres Parkade all open four hours before first pitch. Arrive at least 90 minutes early on Opening Day \u2014 this isn&#8217;t a random Tuesday in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Street parking exists but you&#8217;ll be competing with the entire city, and meters near the park run about $10\/hour on game days. Not worth the stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_Eat\"><\/span>What to Eat<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Petco Park has some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegohumor.com\/best-burger-in-san-diego\/\">best food in baseball<\/a>, and it&#8217;s not close. The essentials:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Seaside Market tri-tip nachos<\/strong> \u2014 The famous &#8220;Cardiff Crack&#8221; tri-tip on nachos. This is the move. If you only eat one thing, make it this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hodad&#8217;s burgers<\/strong> \u2014 The <a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegohumor.com\/top-things-to-do-in-ocean-beach\/\">Ocean Beach<\/a> legend, inside a ballpark. Still enormous. Still worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gaglione Brothers garlic fries<\/strong> \u2014 Crispy, garlicky, and somehow gone before the third inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Puesto tacos<\/strong> \u2014 Handmade tortillas, queso birria, and a fruit cup that makes you feel healthy enough to order another beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Slugger Dog<\/strong> \u2014 Sometimes you just need a massive hot dog at a baseball game. Petco will be electric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>September 4-6 \u2014 New York Yankees:<\/strong> The Bronx Bombers come to San Diego. This is the series you buy tickets for in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>August 7-9 \u2014 Houston Astros:<\/strong> Nobody in San Diego has forgotten. The weather is perfect, the energy is unmatched, and for one afternoon, every person in the stadium genuinely believes this is the year. Take the trolley, eat the tri-tip nachos, cheer for Tatis, and soak it in. Baseball season is here.
